Spin-Wave Dispersion Measurement by Variable-Gap Propagating Spin-Wave Spectroscopy

چکیده

Knowledge of the spin-wave dispersion relation is a prerequisite for explanation many magnonic phenomena as well practical design devices. Spin-wave measurement by established optical techniques such Brillouin light scattering or magneto-optical Kerr effect at ultralow temperatures often forbiddingly complicated. By contrast, microwave spectroscopy can be used all but it usually lacks spatial and wave-number resolution. Here we develop variable-gap-propagating-spin-wave-spectroscopy (VGPSWS) method deduction spin waves in wide frequency range. The based on phase-resolved analysis transmission between two antennas with variable spacing, conjunction theoretical data treatment. We validate in-plane magnetized $\mathrm{Co}$-$\mathrm{Fe}$-$\mathrm{B}$ yttrium iron garnet thin films $\mathbf{k}\ensuremath{\perp}\mathbf{B}$ $\mathbf{k}\ensuremath{\parallel}\mathbf{B}$ geometries deducing full set material parameters, including dispersion, hybridization fundamental mode higher-order perpendicular standing modes, surface pinning. compatibility microwaves low makes this approach attractive cryogenic magnonics nanoscale.

Spin wave dispersion on the nanometer scale.

Hot electrons injected into antiferromagnetic Mn layers from the tip of a low temperature scanning tunneling microscope have been used to determine the energies, lifetimes, and momenta of antiferromagnetic spin waves on the nanometer scale. The spin waves show a linear dispersion with a velocity of 160+/-10 meV A and lifetimes that scale linearly with energy in agreement with neutron scattering...

Crosstalk of propagating and localized spin-wave modes

The relaxation mechanisms in thin nickel films are investigated with all optical pump-probe experiments. Magnetic oscillations in the GHz range can be attributed to the uniform precession (Kittel mode) and spin waves with dipole character (Damon-Eshbach surface modes). Applying an external field changes both oscillation amplitude and frequency yielding experimental dispersions ν(Hext). On a wed...

All-optical observation and reconstruction of spin wave dispersion

To know the properties of a particle or a wave, one should measure how its energy changes with its momentum. The relation between them is called the dispersion relation, which encodes essential information of the kinetics. In a magnet, the wave motion of atomic spins serves as an elementary excitation, called a spin wave, and behaves like a fictitious particle. Although the dispersion relation ...

Spin-wave dispersion in half-doped La3/2Sr1/2NiO4

Recent neutron scattering measurements reveal spin and charge ordering in the half-doped nickelate, La3/2Sr1/2NiO4. Many of the features of the magnetic excitations have been explained in terms of the spin waves of diagonal stripes with a magnetic coupling structure which is fourfold symmetric. However, an optical mode dispersing away from the , point was not captured by this theory. We show he...
